AEI TÈXTILS is a cluster, with a non-profit association structure, formed by companies in the value chain of the advanced textile materials sector in Catalonia and other organizations supporting innovation.

Its main goals are to promote innovation, especially in cooperation; to foster links in the Catalan advanced textile materials sector and to give visibility to the cluster and its members at an international level to boost the green and digital transition.

Its members comprise SMEs of the whole manufacturing chain of technical textiles, universities, research centers, textile trade associations and other kind or organizations related to the field.

Centro Italiano per l’Apprendimento Permanente (CIAPE) is a non profit private organisation, which exists as an Association of Learners to promote the development of a learning society through the provision of a quality and comprehensive system of adult learning and education which is accessible and inclusive.

The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya is a public institution dedicated to higher education and research, specialized in the fields of engineering, architecture, and science.

With a focus on intellectual rigor, critical thinking, a transversal approach to knowledge, educational innovation, and entrepreneurship, the UPC produces competent professionals with the skills they need to tackle present and future challenges.

The UPC has a wide spread presence in Catalonia, with nine campuses located in Barcelona and nearby towns: Castelldefels, Manresa, Sant Adrià de Besòs, Sant Cugat del Vallès, Terrassa, and Vilanova i la Geltrú.

In this HACTEX project, the UPC team are professors at the Textile Engineering Section (SAET) of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and staff researchers at the Institute of Textile Research and Industrial Cooperation of Terrassa (INTEXTER) of the Terrassa Campus. Smart textiles are among the areas of expertise of SAET and INTEXTER, both in teaching and in research.

The University of West Attica (UNIWA) was founded in March 2018 by the National Law 4521. The foundation of the newly established University resulted from the merging process of the former Technological Educational Institute of Athens and the Piraeus University of Applied Sciences.

UNIWA is a dynamic and constantly evolving institution that strives to fulfill its vision and mission, and to achieve its goals investing in the development of modern teaching methods, adapted to students’ needs and responsive to competitive labor market and society requirements, as well as in its modern facilities and infrastructure (i.e., teaching resources, classrooms, laboratories/workshops, scientific equipment).

Our University offers contemporary Undergraduate and Postgraduate study programmes, which give our graduates the opportunity to acquire specialized scientific knowledge, skills and competences, linking academia to both society and the labor market.

At UNIWA, there are twenty-seven Departments operating under the academic umbrella of five Schools, covering a wide range of scientific fields, such as social, administrative and economic sciences, engineering sciences, health and welfare sciences, as well as food sciences and applied art and culture studies.

According to official data, UNIWA is the third largest university in the country with regard to the number of undergraduate students whereas it hosts over 50,000 students in total. The University employs, on permanent basis, 608 faculty members, 138 special laboratory teaching and technical staff members, and 345 administrative staff members qualified to accomplish its high-standard teaching, research and administrative goals.

This combination of highly-skilled and experienced human resources, together with the existing modern infrastructure, has laid the foundation for further academic development of the University.
